(Updated August 2012) Construction of the school is going well. We were very grateful to receive donations of corrugated metal roofing and concrete from another NGO. Villagers have beeng pitching in to collect and haul sand and stones, to make bricks, and to work on the construction of the schoolbuilding.

We anticipate hiring one or two additional teachers later this year. We are in urgent need of textbooks and school supplies.

One of the biggest felt needs in the community is "transport." Unlike many other communities in Africa, this community is actually able to produce an abundance of food; the difficulty is that it is impossible to get that food to a larger market, given the inaccessibility of this region for most of the year. (A four-wheel-drive vehicle is necessary.)
