Donations

Faith International Mission USA/Sierra Leone, Ltd., is a non-profit organization registered in Maryland that has obtained 501(c)(3) status. (We are also registered with the relevant Ministries in Sierra Leone.)

Donations are thus tax-deductible.

Currently (mid-2012), we continue to be severely financially constrained.

Our latest financial statement is here. As you can see, the vast majority of our donations are used for salaries ... salaries which are tiny, by standards in rich countries. Our Board members are all volunteers. We pay the salary of Samuel Bangura, who is the de-facto Country Director, the pastor, and the school superintendent. We also pay the salaries of two teachers, but need to hire more to accomodate a growing student population. In previous years, we have managed to fund the purchase of lights and a generator, to facilitate the adult literacy program we are running, and to enable us to contact Pastor Kamara in the village by cell phone when necessary; however, the generator has broken down and needs to be replaced. We have funded the purchase of a bicycle so that Pastor Kamara can visit neighboring villages in evangelism efforts. Nearly all financial donations to date (2012) have come from Board members, although in 2011 and 2012 we received in-kind donations from other charities.

We can make good use of $10 donations, in addition to $1000 donations. Don't be dismayed if you only have a little to give right now!

As you can see from the description of the mission activities and the number of children in our school, more teachers are desperately needed. We would prefer to hire amputees, who have few other employment prospects in this desperately poor country. We are currently rebuilding the school. The school is also desperately in need of ordinary school materials, including blackboards. Students need textbooks and writing materials. Many students don't have uniforms. We would like the school to become a center of excellence in this remote, poor region.

In addition to the needs noted above, we have many projects which are in the planning stage, but have not been funded. We hope that donors step forward to adopt projects, funding them so that they can be implemented. Please prayerfully consider this. As noted elsewhere, we are more than happy to provide any additional verification that you would require.
